Cryptainer Secures Data on the Move
Cryptainer software from Cypherix is an encryption software that was somewhat portable, extremely secure, and permitted encryption of data on USB flash devices and CD/DVD ROMs. Cypherix solutions enable you to build several vaults, which are password-protected, encrypted virtual drives. You can use your password to load and unload vaults. In Windows Explorer, the virtual drive appears as a drive letter and may be used just like any other drive linked to your computer. You can drag and drop files into encrypted volumes and even install applications on encrypted drives, just like you would on a hard disk.
Overview of Cryptainer
Cypherix offers many versions of Cryptainer, each with a
different vault size. Cryptainer PE, for example, provides 25GB vaults, which
are large enough to store the whole contents of a DVD in a safe vault. You can
have as many vaults as you desire, depending on the capacity of your hard disk.
Each vault in Cryptainer PE is restricted to a maximum capacity of 25GB.
Cryptainer has a 448-bit encryption key. Unlike Microsoft's Encrypting File System (EFS), which decrypts files moved to a non-NTFS partition such as FAT, FAT32, or CDFS, Cryptainer contents stay encrypted regardless of file system.
Installation
When you install Cryptainer SE, the Administrative Module is
installed on one computer, allowing you to see the Cryptainer logs. In
addition, the setup produces a Client Install Set in the ClientInstall
subdirectory. This collection is used to install Cryptainer on other network
machines. The directions for this entire procedure are rather straightforward.
While the Blowfish 448 and AES 256-bit encryption methods are supported by
Cryptainer SE, the RSA 2048-bit technique is supported by the Administrative
Module. It also offers 64 bit encryption
software.
SecureIT is a file encryption program that supports AES 256 and Blowfish 448 encryption. It also allows you to encrypt data that you may transmit to anybody as an e-mail attachment. Depending on how you encrypt the file, the receiver can either use the password you supply or the free Decrypt IT program from Cypherix to decrypt it. The first technique does not necessitate the receiver installing any software on their computer. SecureIT also has a built-in file shredder that eliminates all traces of data, preventing files from being "undeleted" or retrieved by other tools.
The Free Upgrade Method
When you buy Cryptainer,
you receive two years of free upgrades regardless of the product you buy. You
can continue to use the product after two years. If you opt to upgrade to the
next higher version, you simply have to pay the difference in price.
The software upgrade procedure is straightforward. You visit
Cypherix's website and get the most recent version. You supply the original
registration key after installing the new version, which updates your program
to the newer version. The Support section on its website provides detailed
information on how to complete this process.
